Pod 8 Evaluation- Making Decisions like an Economist

The overview of this project for Pod 8 discussing the learning design project discusses using quick decision-making skills as an economist would. The layout of the project is very clear and concise. It seems as though the interactive part of the project has been left out. It was designed for high school students and would be acceptable for ELL students as well as deaf students. Due to this the blueprint uses Closed Caption. This is a great way to assist deaf students but I feel as though further assistance would be required especially if would would be suggesting presentations as the primary method of deliverables. They also suggest the use of translation for those who have english as a second language. Would this require translating into multiple languages and would this be the best option?

Learning Theory: This group chose two methods of learning. Cognitivism, and Inquiry-based learning. Cognitivism is a great choice for this topic but I find some error in using Inquiry. One is that there is no discussion on communication between students or teachers. Inquiry requires a dialogue in order to answer the posed questions and statements presented by the teachers. Perhaps the blog would be a platform used for this and would result in further discussion from the students. The three steps in the Inquiry-based stage is laid out well. I would be interested to see this be displayed in a interactive design rather than a word document.

They state that the presentation format would then be transformed into a research-based project with other students. If the students used zoom to communicate maybe ELL and deaf students would struggle with this type of communication. I have never used slack but the group leaders say this is a reliable tool for uploading and sharing with multiple people.

Overall, this project seems like a good idea but has not been fully executed. The completed project would allow for me to see how the course lay-out would look and if the accessibility measures aide
